This glossary was created to help you understand terms we use in the Youth and Adult Correctional Intervention program. I have used my course notes to find the words and definitions.

Any physical, verbal or behaviour that is detrimental to a person's well-being, fulfillment or development.

A feeling of worry felt in all human beings.

assault
Noun
An unprovoked, unwarranted and brutal attack on someone.

Criminal Law
Noun
The branch of law that brings together all the rules of conduct imposed by society on citizens under penalty of sanction.

Noun
The number of crimes committed in a given social group over a certain period.

dangerousness
Noun
The dangerous nature of something or someone.

depression
Noun
An illness due to a mood disorder.

Noun
A temporary child protection measure that does not imply that the people they care for becoming legally the child's parents.

The inability to have or maintain a home.

Gesture allowing the immobilization of agitated or violent people.
